Just read this and I am at a loss for words.

WTF??? Just read this, I am at a loss for words. Body: Jul 21, 2006 8:08 PM Subject: California assembly bans 4th of july celebration! Body: Why am I not SURPRISED!!!!!!!Thanks SmokeDate: Jul 21, 2006 4:05 PMFrom John Campbell,California Republican Assemblyman 4th of July: In each of the 4 years that I have been a member of the state Assembly, we have had many "celebrations" on the Assembly floor. These "celebrations" are orchestrated by the Democrats who control the House and often involve singing and dancing. Every one of my 4 years have seen substantial celebrations of Cinco de Mayo (which Commemorates the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla ), St. Patrick's Day (for the patron Saint of Ireland), and Chinese New Year's Day, among others. But never once have we celebrated America's Independence Day, the 4th of July. So, this year, Republican Assemblyman Jay LaSuer of San Diego arranged for Vietnam war hero Admiral Jeremiah Denton to come to California to be a part of a 4th of July ceremony. As you may know, Admiral Denton was a Navy pilot in Vietnam who was shot down and spent 8 years in a Vietnamese prison. In 1966 while in prison, he was interviewed by North Vietnamese television in Hanoi after torture to get him to "respond properly." During this interview, he blinked his eyes in Morse code to spell out the word "torture." He was asked about his support for the war in Vietnam to which he replied "I don't know what is happening now in Vietnam, because the only news sources I have are Vietnamese. But whatever the position of my government is, I believe in it, I support it, and I will support it as long as I live." Four of his 8 years in prison were spent in solitary confinement. He later wrote the book "When Hell was in Session" chronicling his experience in Vietnam. When he stepped off the plane after being released from prison in 1973, he said "We are honored to have had the opportunity to serve our country in difficult circumstances. We are profoundly grateful to our Commander-in-Chief for this day. God bless America." Suffice it to say, Jeremiah Denton is unquestionably an American hero. The Democrat leadership refused to allow him on the Assembly floor, and there was no 4th of July celebration. A memo from the Democrat speaker's office said "problems have arisen both with regards to the spirit, content, and participation of various individuals with regard to the ceremony." Apparently, they said that he did not believe in the "separation of church and state" and therefore they would not allow him to be on the Assembly floor or to speak.Upon hearing about this, Governor Schwarzenegger offered his meeting room for a ceremony with Admiral Denton. The room was overflowing with people. Only one elected Democrat was in attendance. A number of veterans of the last 4 wars were present. Admiral Denton gave a very moving speech about the 4th of July and about the undeniable commitment of our founding fathers' to their faith in God. He talked about how the war on terrorism may be the most difficult war we have yet fought. And he went on to say that he fears that partisan attacks on our mission and our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan sound too familiar to what he experienced in Vietnam. Following his speech, The Governor came out to personally spend time with him. Then this American hero, whose debt from us all can never be repaid, flew home to Alabama. The Assembly did meet on that day. And we did have a ceremony that lasted nearly 20 minutes. That ceremony was to celebrate the career of a reporter from the LA Times on the occasion of his retirement. Democrats universally praised him as being "balanced." He was allowed to speak for about 10 minutes. Admiral Denton was no longer in the building.Four years of Cinco De Mayo and not one recognition of the 4th of July. An LA Times reporter praised, and the very person whose sacrifice allows him to express his opinion is banned. It is perverse. It is wrong. And it is disrespectful to all the men and women in uniform who have stared death in the face and to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the American people.Admiral Jeremiah Denton is a hero like all the other men and women of the Armed Forces, because he defended the ideals set forth with America's independence.Democrats are always railing about intolerance and discrimination. But yet in practice, it is they who engage in regular state-sanctioned discrimination and who are intolerant of the presentation of other views. Maybe they are worried that people will listen.I do not send you this to bash Democrats. I send you this to demonstrate the huge chasm that exists between registered, voting Democrats, and elected Democrat leadership. I hope those of you who are not Democrats, will send this to your friends who are. If you are a Democrat, don't be ashamed. Be angry. Straighten out your party and your leadership, or leave it.Fortunately, we do not need the approval of the Speaker of the Assembly to celebrate our nation's independence. Nor do we need his permission to thank those who fought to give us and to maintain our freedoms. On the 4th of July, as the burgers cook and the fireworks fly, let us always remember......and give thanks. As a final offering, I give you a poem that Admiral Denton read to us, through eyes clouded with tears:"It is the soldier, not the reporter,Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet,Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag,Who serves beneath the flag,And whose coffin is draped by the flag,Who allows the protester to burn the flag."

To My Fallen Brother (ty Jason)

For Country...For Freedom Another brave soldier has fallen today... while serving his country, in the midst of "Harm's Way". He was fighting for freedom, for us, and Iraq, and fell silent and still, while under attack. He gave all he had, like a hero so true... the ultimate sacrifice... for the red, white, and blue. Words can't describe, to a family or friend, the personal loss, that they feel deep within. But those that have served, their country before, can feel the great loss, no matter the war. This "brother" who's fallen, for what we believe, is a hero forever, as we honor and grieve. His life has been given, so we can go on, living in freedom, right now and beyond. Heroes are born in our country each day, and they give all they have, in their own special way. We know who they are, for they usually stand out, and we try to be like them, and what they're about! So mourning this hero, and what he stood for, should remind us each day... of our freedom once more.

A Military Wife's Request

A Military Wife's RequestThe following story was written by Lori Kimble, a 31 year old teacher and proud military wife. Mrs. Kimble, a California native, currently lives in Alabama.)I was sitting alone in one of those loud, casual steak houses that you find all over the country. You know the type--a bucket of peanuts on every table, shells littering the floor, and a bunch of perky college kids racing around with long neck beers and sizzling platters.Taking a sip of my iced tea, I studied the crowd over the rim of my glass. My gaze lingered on a group enjoying their meal. They wore no uniform to identify their branch of service, but they were definitely "military:" clean shaven, cropped haircut, and that "squared away" look that comes with pride.Smiling sadly, I glanced across my table to the empty seat where my husband usually sat. It had only been a few months since we sat in this very booth, talking about his upcoming deployment to the Middle East. That was when he made me promise to get a sitter for the kids, come back to this restaurant once a month and treat myself to a nice steak. In turn he would treasure the thought of me being here, thinking about him until he returned homeI fingered the little flag pin I constantly wear and wondered where he was at this very moment. Was he safe and warm?! Was his cold any better? Were my letters getting through to him? As I pondered these thoughts, high pitched female voices from the next booth broke into my thoughts."I don't know what Bush is thinking about. Invading Iraq. You'd think that man would learn from his old man's mistakes. Good lord. What an idiot! I can't believe he is even in office. You do know, he stole the election."I cut into my steak and tried to ignore them, as they began an endless tirade running down our president. I thought about the last night I spent with my husband, as he prepared to deploy. He had just returned from getting his smallpox and anthrax shots. The image of him standing in our kitchen packing his gas mask still gives me chills.Once again the women's voices invaded my thoughts. "It is all about oil, you know. Our soldiers will go in and rape and steal all the oil they can in the name of 'freedom'. Hmph! I wonder how many innocent people they'll kill without giving it a thought? It's pure greed, you know."My chest tightened as I stared at my wedding ring. I could still see how handsome my husband looked in his "mess dress" the day he slipped it on my finger. I wondered what he was wearing now. Probably his desert uniform, affectionately dubbed "coffee stains" with a heavy bulletproof vest over it."You know, we should just leave Iraq alone. I don't think they are hiding any weapons. In fact, I bet it's all a big act just to increase the president's popularity. That's all it is, padding the military budget at the expense of our social security and education. And, you know what else? We're just asking for another 9-ll. I can't say when it happens again that we didn't deserve it."Their words brought to mind the war protesters I had watched gathering outside our base. Did no one appreciate the sacrifice of brave men and women, who leave their homes and family to ensure our freedom? Do they even know what "freedom" is?I glanced at the table where the young men were sitting, and saw their courageous faces change. They had stopped eating and looked at each other dejectedly, listening to the women talking. "Well, I, for one, think it's just deplorable to invade Iraq, and I am certainly sick of our tax dollars going to train professional baby-killers we call a military."Professional baby-killers? I thought about what a wonderful father my husband is, and of how long it would be before he would see our children again. That's it! Indignation rose up inside me. Normally reserved, pride in my husband gave me a brassy boldness I never realized I had. Tonight one voice will answer on behalf of our military, and let her pride in our troops be known.Sliding out of my booth, I walked around to the adjoining booth and placed my hands flat on their table. Lowering myself to eye level with them, smilingly said, "I couldn't help overhearing your conversation. You see, I'm sitting here trying to enjoy my dinner alone. And, do you know why? Because my husband, whom I love with all my heart, is halfway around the world defending your right to say rotten things about him.""Yes, you have the right to your opinion, and what you think is none of my business. However, what you say in public is something else, and I will not sit by and listen to you ridicule MY country, MY president, MY husband, and all the other fine American men and women who put their lives on the line, just so you can have the "freedom" to complain. Freedom is an expensive commodity, ladies. Don't let your actions cheapen it."I must have been louder that I meant to be, because the manager came over to inquire if everything was all right. "Yes, thank you," I replied. Then, turning back to the women, I said, "Enjoy the rest of your meal."As I returned to my booth applause broke out. I was embarrassed for making a scene, and went back to my half eaten steak. The women picked up their check and scurried away. After finishing my meal, and while waiting for my check, the manager returned with a huge apple cobbler ala mode. "Compliments of those soldiers," he said. He also smiled and said the ladies tried to pay for my dinner, but that another couple had beaten them to it. When I asked who, the manager said they had already left, but that the gentleman was a veteran, and wanted to take care of the wife of "one of our boys."With a lump in my throat, I gratefully turned to the soldiers and thanked them for the cobbler. Grinning from ear to ear, they came over and surrounded the booth. "We just wanted to thank you, ma'am. You know we can't get into confrontations with civilians, so we appreciate what you did."As I drove home, for the first time since my husband's deployment, I didn't feel quite so alone. My heart was filled with the warmth of the other diners who stopped by my table, to relate how they, too, were proud of my husband, and would keep him in their prayers. I knew their flags would fly a little higher the next day.Perhaps they would look for more tangible ways to show their pride in our country, and the military who protect her. And maybe, just maybe, the two women who were railing against our country, would pause for a minute to appreciate all the freedom America offers, and the price it pays to maintain it's freedom. As for me, I have learned that one voice CAN make a difference. Maybe the next time protesters gather outside the gates of the base where I live, I will proudly stand on the opposite side with a sign of my own. It will simply say, "Thank You!"To those who fought for our Nation: Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know. GOD BLESS AMERICA!Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders. Pass this on to as many as you think will respond. "Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior."When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our ground, air and navy personnel in every area of the middle east. There is nothing attached.... This can be very powerful.... Just send this to all the people in your address book.Do not stop this prayer chain, please.... Of all the gifts you could give to anyone in the US Military, be it Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines or National Guard, Prayer is the very best one.....Amen!

The United States

A father wanted to read a magazine but was being bothered by his little girl, Shelby . She wanted to know what the United States looked like. Finally, he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed the map of the country. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to Shelby, and said, "Go into the other room and see if you can put this together. This will show you our whole country today." After a few minutes, Shelby returned and handed him the map, correctly fitted and taped together. The father was surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly. "Oh," she said, "on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus. When I got all of Jesus back where He belonged, then our country just came together."

Freedom Isn't Free

Freedom Isn't Free (Dedicated to David Becknell US Navy)
I wrote this for my sweet sailor David! I miss him sooo bad already! If you get to read this I love you baby! I love you more than you will ever know because words could never express it!
~Jen
"Freedom Isn't Free"
As I watched you pull the seat belt across and buckle it
I stood there and watched thinking I couldn't take it!
On the inside I was screaming please don't go as
my knees hit the ground and I pleaded with you
but on the outside I stood tall and proud
with a half smile and half frown as I waved to you.
I never let you see just how bad it was killing me
knowing that this is the price for America to be free!
My heart broke as I heard the ignition turn over
the car pulled away and our conversation played over
in my mind and in my heart!
I wanted us to never again part!
As I made one last wave and said in a barely a whisper
"See you later my love" one lone tear fell silently down my cheek!
This is the price that we pay for you to serve our country
and I will forever stand by your side proud that you keep me free!
I will be here waiting now and foerver
until you return to me to stay for always!
And you can believe that for me
Freedom Isn't Free!

What is going on? North Korea

well i just talked to my david and i am so upset right now! it seems that korea is full of assholes and we have been forced to move our air craft carrier from the persian gulf to japan and since we have to have a carrier in the gulf they are more than likely going to be calling up the next in line for deployment to go early......guess who that may be.....you got it...my david! damn it all to hell! i just wanted a few more weeks with my angel before he is taken away to be in the middle of a living hell! as if the situation with iraq and iran wasn't stressful and scary enough now we have to put north korea right slam in the middle of it too! i am beginning to think that we are about to be mixed up in another world war! i am so damn scared right now that it isn't even funny! i am scared to death that i finally found my soul mate and God is going to take him away from me! what the hell is REALLY going on?? i know that there is a million things happening that we as civilians do not know and i WANT to know! it affects me damn it......i NEED to know! i want my baby to come home to me and i am more scared now than ever that it won't happen!! i just want to be in his arms one more time.....is that selfish? if it is i guess i am just a selfish person! i can't believe how scared and alone i feel right now! i can't say my last good bye over the damn phone!! i need to look him in the eyes and tell him that i love him and that i need him to come home to me! it's just so hard to imagine life without him....it was hard when it was only for 6 months and even then i was scared that he wasn't going to come home but now it is all different! i have a gut wrenching fear that wasn't there before! omg....what will i do without him? i have spent such a long time dreading september and now i have dread every day because he could leave at any second and it is killing me! i understand this war with iraq and i understand heading off the threat in north korea and i am SO proud of david for what he does but i am so angry and scared right now! i have never in all of my life loved anyone this way before and i so beside myself! i know i am probably worrying prematurely and all of that but it just hurts so bad! a good friend once told me that his wife used to tell him "i understand why you have to leave but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt," and another friend's wife used to tell him "i have to support what you do and i have to understand that you are leaving and why and i have to love you more than ever for what you do but i don't have to like it." i think that says it all! God knows that i support him in what he is doing and i understand why he is leaving and i love him so much and i am so proud of him for what he does but i HATE it! it is tearing me up inside! i am not the fearful type! i have never been scared of anything before in my life! i am the type that stares danger and fear in the eyes and laughs at them! but this.....this scares the living hell out of me! that is my heart getting ready to go out in the middle of a war and i have no idea what i will do without my heart for the few months it will be gone much less if it fails to return to me! i was in denial for a little while telling myself that he was going to be fine and he will be safe and that nothing could happen to him but these recent developments have forced me to face the very real possibility that he won't! denial doesn't work anymore!! anyway! i am going to start rambling now so i better stop but i had to get this off of my chest! i guess i will just write more later when i can actually think! ttyl!

Healing Field War Memorial

I don't know if you all have heard about the war memorial for fallen soldiers of this war called the Healing Field but if you haven't you should really look it up, it is amazing! What it is is a memorial of flags set up in a field. Each flag in the field has the name and information on a service member that has paid the ultimate price in this war. Lynchburg, Va had it set up here from July 1st through July 4th in the big field next to Liberty University. David was here this weekend so we went out there to visit the memorial and then watch the fireworks. This was the second most influencial moment in my life....the first being walking up on the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC. When we first walked up to the field and we could see the flags lined up across this field it was a moment of both great sadness and great pride. Sadness because the number of flags really put a reality to the numbers you read in the paper and pride because all of these brave men and women gave all to keep me safe at home. It was an overwhelming feeling. Both David and I were greatly affected! I found myself crying as I walked through these flags reading the names and thinking about how greatful for these great people that stepped up and the sadness of the lack of respect that these men and women get from some Americans! I got to watch teh ceremony as they placed the flags of the latest fallen heroes and it touched me so deeply that I couldn't help but cry even harder. We were there with my mom and my kids. This was a great thing because it gave me and momma an opportunity to talk to my children and try to explain to them what these flags represent and why it is so important! I am sure that my son didn't understand because he is only 2 but I think my daughter a little more understanding since she is 5. I know that she still didn't get all of the importance but I am sure that she got a good bit of it. Walking through those flags and thinking about all of the things that these men and women have done for me and my children was amazing! I got a wonderful opportunity to speak to one of the soldiers that was there to help set up the field and to gaurd the field. I walked up to him after watching him and his brothers and sisters in arms set up the final flags in the memorial and then walk through and find certain flags and kneel and pray as held the poles of the flags...I wept as he did this because I knew that those were his men that didn't make it home. When I walked up to him I could see a mixture of pride and sadness in his eyes....and I can tell you that there isn't a sadder thing to see than a deep rooted sadness in a soldier's eyes! I walk up to this hero and I held my hand out to him and as he took my hand it was electric....this hero...a man that has seen the most horrendous things in the world had time to shake my hand....I took his hand and shook and then cupped my other hand over our joined hands and looked him dead in the eyes and said, "I just wanted to say thank you for all that you have done and continue to do....." then I began to weep as I said to him..."I know that you don't hear that enough these days." He got this look of pride and surprise as he said thank you before we parted ways. That moment was a moment complete and total surrender for my soul. I have never....and never again will.....felt that way before. The emotions that whirled through me left me light headed and shocked. I believe it to be a life altering moment in my life and I will never forget it. A simple 1 minute exchange....which would normally have taken all of 5 seconds but the tears and the lump in my throat slowed me down.....held more significance to me than most anything I have ever had the privilege of experiencing. I don't know this soldier's name or rank or what division he serves in or where he came from....I don't know anything about him at all truthfully....but he has forever touched my life. I was blessed to be there and blessed to have had this encounter with my unknown soldier! I am telling you that if you ever get the opportunity to visit this memorial you should most definitely do it! It is the most amazing thing that you will ever have the honor and privilege to do! When you go you should take the time to walk through these rows of flags and read the names of these soldiers....I promise you once you feel the pride, sadness, and joy in the air as you walk through you will feel as though you knew each one of these men and women! It was an amazing night for me! Even as we sat on the grass in fromt of this field and watched the fireworks I could still feel the emotions of the field. I consider myself so lucky to have been able to see that memorial and I pray that one day I get the opportunity to see it again! Thank you for reading this because it is very important to me! Thank you to anyone that is reading this and is currently or has in the past served this country and fought to protect me and my family! God Bless you all.....and Please Protect My Service Members That Fight For Me and Mine! God Bless!

What Is A Veteran?

Some Veterans bear visible signs of their service... A missing limb, a jagged scar, a certain look in the eye. Others may carry the evidence inside them: a pin holding a bone together, a piece of shrapnel in the leg - or perhaps another sort of inner steel: the soul's ally forged in the refinery of adversity. Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no badge or emblem. You can't tell a Vet just by looking. What is a vet? He is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored personnel carriers didn't run out of fuel. He is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks, whose overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of exquisite bravery near the 38th parallel. She - or he - is the Nurse who fought against futility and went to sleep sobbing every night for two solid years in Da Nang. He is the POW who went away one person and came back another - or didn't come back AT ALL. He is the Quantico Drill Instructor teaching marines to watch each other's backs. He is the parade riding Legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand. He is the three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of The Unknowns, whose presence at the Arlington National Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all the anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with them on the battlefield or in the ocean's sunless deep. He is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket... palsied now and aggravatingly slow...who helped liberate a Nazi death camp and who wishes all day long that his wife were still alive to hold him when the nightmares come. He is also the man who bears no physical scars but had to observe his friends and fellow soldiers die in Iraq and saw countless things happen to the civilians in Iraq.He is an ordinary and yet an extraordinary human being...a person who offered some of his life's most vital years in the service of his country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs. He is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the darkness, and he is nothing more than the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known. So remember, each time you see someone who has served our country, just lean over and say "Thank You". That's all most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded. Two little words that mean a lot,"THANK YOU"

Cheating Military Spouses....gggrrrrrrrrrr

I am really disgusted right now! I want to just reach out and slap the crap out of someone but I decided rather than go getting in trouble I would take out my frustrations and anger here. I have a friend that is in Iraq as we speak and he has what he thought was a wonderful, loving, and understanding wife at home taking care of his 2 beautiful children and spending his VERY hard earned money. Ok....so all sounds great right? Now for the messed up part! He was just served with seperation/divorce papers....that's right folks they will serve you in the dessert. Ok so when he called her to find out what was going on she blatently told him that since 2 weeks after he shipped out in October of '05 she has been bangin' another man. Damn....2 weeks....wtf?? Now keep in mind that he cam home for 2 weeks r&r in May and she never said a word and all seemed just dandy between the two of them. I swear....some people don't deserve to breathe! How could she do that to him? They have been married for 4 years....all 4 of which he has been enlisted....he was enlisted when they met with 2 years behind him then. It isn't like she married him and didn't know about the whole military thing!! Not only is all of this going on but she is also pregnant with this other guy's baby. Now my friend is wondering if she would have ever told him if she hadn't gotten herself knocked up!! But anyway! Even more disgusting is how common this scenario is! I have heard so many stories about how these guys leave to go protect our country and then get cheated on and/or divorced while they are gone! What is wrong with you ladies?? Do you not realize when you marry a military man that you will have to deal with long seperations and a lot of lonely nights and countless hours worrying and waiting? That is the job of the military spouse/girlfriend! That is what we do....and we WAIT and we love unconditionally!!! It really pisses me off because these few whores that can not keep their pants on give all of us a bad name! Not to mention bringing down the morale of our men over there and that pisses me off because these men have to have each other's backs and if one or two are thinking about this drama their minds aren't 100% on protecting one another and it could be MY man or My friend or MY uncle...etc etc etc that gets killed! Now, I think it is ridiculous that the military allows this to go on for that very reason! They can tell you what you can and can not tell your wives and girlfriends for security purposes, they can tell you when you can and can not call or write your wives and girlfriends because of security...BUT then they say....hey what they hell serve him with seperation and/or divorce papers while he is fighting a war...no big deal!!! WTF is up with that?? I don't know.....maybe I am crazy but I think the whores should have to wait until their men get home and face them in person! It takes a real coward to pull something like this on paper and I don't think they deserve that right!! Anyway! I believe that it is very sad that this happens! It breaks my heart because these men love their wives and girlfriends with everything inside of them and these ladies...uumm if you can call them that....rip our their hearts, throw them on the ground, and then stomp on them! I mean, speaking as a woman and a military girlfriend I have to say.....honestly from the bottom of my heart and soul I could NEVER do that! It is inhumane! If I felt that we weren't meant to be together I would either tell him before he went or when he got back....more probably after he got back and got readjusted to the lifestyle. Maybe I am the crazy one....who knows!! I just know that I hate hearing what these men are going through in their personal lives when they already sacrifice so much to serve our country and to protect all Americans! It is unbelievable! Well, let me hush for now before I write an entire novel....lol! I will no doubt be writing more on this topic later!

The Date...ROFLMAO I WILL NEVER ASK A SOLDIER TO COOK AGAIN!!

Thx Doc Ramos for making me laugh unti it hurt!I had a date the other night at my place. On the phone the day before, the girl asked me to "Cook her something she's never had before" for dinner. After many minutes of scratching my head over what to make, I finally settled on something she has DEFINITELY never eaten. I got out my trusty case of MRE's. Meal, Ready-to-Eat. Field rations that when eaten in their entirety contain 3000+ calories. Here's what I made: I took three of the Ham Slices out of their plastic packets;took out three of the Pork Chops;three packets of Chicken-a-la-King;and eight packets of dehydrated butter noodles;and some dehydrated/rehydrated rice. I cooked the Ham Slices and Pork Chops in one pan, sautéed in shaved garlic and olive oil. In another pot, I blended the Chicken a-la-king, noodles, and rice together to make a sort of mush that looked suspiciously like succotash. I added some spices, and blended everything together in a glass pan that I then cooked in the oven for about 35 minutes at 450 degrees. When I took it out, it looked like, well, ham slices, pork chops, and a bed of yellow poop. I covered the tops of the meat with the MRE cheese (kinda like Velveeta) and added some green sprinkly thingys from one of my spice cans. (Hey, if it's got green sprinkly thingys on it, it looks fancy, right?)For dessert, I took four MRE Pound Cakes, mashed 'em up, added five packets of cocoa powder, powdered coffee cream, and some water. I heated it up and stirred it until it looked like a sort of chunky gelatinous organism, and I sprinkled powdered sugar on top of it. Voila--Ranger Pudding. For alcoholic drinks, I took the rest of my bottle of Military Special Vodka (yes, they DO make a type of liquor named "Military Special"--it sells for $4.35 per fifth) and mixed in four packets of "Electrolytes - 1 each - Cherry flavored" (I swear, the packet says that). It looked like an eerie kool-aid with sparkles in it (that was the electrolytes I guess...could've been leftover sand from Egypt).I lit two candles, put a vase of wildflowers in the middle, and set the table with my best set of Ralph Lauren Academy-series China (that shit is flippin EXPENSIVE... my set of 8 place settings cost me over $600), and put the alcoholic drink in a crystal wine decanter. She came over, and I had some appetizers already made, of MRE spaghetti-with-meatballs, set in small cups. She saw the dinner, saw the food, and said "This looks INCREDIBLE!!!" We dug in, and she was loving the food. Throughout the meal, she kept asking me how long it took me to make it, and kept remarking that I obviously knew a thing or two about cooking fine meals. She kind of balked at the makeshift "wine" I had set out, but after she tried it I guess she liked it because she drank four glasses during dinner. At the end of the main course, when I served the dessert, she squealed with delight at the "Chocolate mousse" I had made. Huh? Chocolate what? Okay...yeah...it's Chocolate Moose. Took me HOURS to make... yup.Later on, as we were watching a movie, she excused herself to use my restroom. While she was in there, I heard her say softly to herself "uh oh" and a resounding but petite fart punctuated her utterance of dismay.Let the games begin. She sprayed about half a can of air freshener (Air Freshener, 1 each, Orange scent. Yup. The Marines even make smell good) and returned to the couch, this time with an obvious pained look. After 10 more minutes she excused herself again, and retreated to the bathroom for the second time. I could hear her say "What the hell is WRONG with me???," as she again send flatulent shockwaves into the porcelain bowl. This time, they sounded kinda wet, and I heard the toilet paper roll being employed, and again, LOTS more air freshener.Back to the couch. She smiles meekly as she decides to sit on the chair instead of next to me. She sits on my chair, knees pulled up to her chest, kind of rocking back and forth slightly. Suddenly, without a word, she ROCKETED up and FLEW to the bathroom, slammed the door, and didn't come out for 30 minutes.I turned the movie up because I didn't want her to hear me laughing so hard that tears were streaming down my cheeks. She came out with a slightly gray pallor to her face, and said "I am SOOOOOO sorry. I have NO idea what is wrong with me. I am so embarrassed, I can't believe I keep running to your bathroom!!" I gave her an Imodium AD, and she finally settled down and relaxed. Later on, she asked me again what I had made for dinner, because she had enjoyed it so much. I calmly took her into the kitchen and showed her all the used MRE bags and packets in the trash can. After explaining to her that she had eaten roughly 9,000 calories of "expeditionary rations" she turned stark white, looked at me incredulously, and said "I ate 9,000 calories or dehydrated food that was made 3 years ago?" After I concurred, she grabbed her coat and keys, and took off without a word. She called me yesterday. Seems she couldn't shit for 3 days, and when she finally did, the smell was so bad, her roommate could smell it from down the hall. She also told me she had been working out nonstop to combat the high caloric intake, and that she never wanted me to cook dinner for her again, unless she was PERSONALLY there to inspect the food beforehand. It was a fun date. She laughed about it eventually, and said that that was the first time she'd ever crapped in a guy's house on a date. She'd been so upset by it she was in tears in the bathroom while I had been in tears on the couch. I know, I'm an asshole, but it was still a funny night.
